Your Blogs Rock

It's been way too hot and MUGGY to do much of anything lately. I've not even been reading as many of my favorite sites as usual, just 'cuz the "act" of thinking about what I'm reading causes the sweat to pour down my back.

So I'm looking forward to moving out this weekend coming and fully intending to start getting active!
* I've heard that raises one's tolerance for extremes.

The reason for the title here, is that I've just been skimmin' and reading only the posts that seem to speak to where I'm at and what I need. Some of those are pure, raw humor, and some have been deep and I'm
still too lazy to spread the linky love, as BG and AG like to call it.

I will get back to .. err.. normal(?) soon. Cross my heart and hope to marry republican if I don't. {-;

This is just to say how happy I am to have gotten into bloggin'. It's kept me outta my head, even whilst makin' me use it more productively. I always knew there were more people like me in the world. I've just had trouble finding them.

Thanks all!!!

* I don't know why that makes sense the way I wrote it. It does though. I thought about changing it but it freakin' feels right the way it is.

Whatever eh... {-;

  1. I always knew there were more people like me in the world. I've just had trouble finding them.

That's exactly how I feel. I've felt my whole life that I was stuck between two worlds. Won't bore you with the details, but I'm really happy to have found everyone in computerland, too.

That's not to say that it's not good to be around people who *aren't* like you, so you can get a new perspective on things. But, sometimes ya just like to hang with your own kind of peeps. You know?

  2. RAmen Sistah BG!

(wrote more and deleted it. that's 'nuff said. {-; )

  3. Hey! I'm happy you started blogging too.

  4. Well said you two. I'm smiling just thinkin' about those people who get it in that Will and Grace sorta way. You don't have to talk too hard about it, just a couple of syllables and we are all on the same page while everyone else is still scratching, going "huh."

Gettin' a new perspective is great and all but sometimes you just want a frickin' shoe that fits, that's all I'm sayin'.

  5. It's true how many folks you meet on the blogs that lend support to our lives. It gives me hope when I hear women in Kansas on NPR calling me a liberal with an agenda. That agenda: teaching proven science. In other ways, it validates my weirdness. And still in other ways it gets me to think about how I talk to people and how I can do better. I love the blog world and *most* the people I know in it!

There are a few I could live without but they really aren't part of the circle. They just troll and roll.

  6. Some of the nicest people I have ever met, I have never seen them nor heard their voices.

There seems to be a thread that binds us via the internet. I love it.

We all have our ups and downs, but we stick by one another and help as we can.

  7. What a smooch-smooch fest goin' on over here!

I wish we could have a huge Blogger Party somewhere where everyone could easily come...

    Wouldn't that be fun?

When I went to the Kos thing in NY in June -- I have to say that was one of the coolest things about the trip.

I met Mannion and Tom Watson and others and in about one second flat, it was like we've known each other for years.

AG and I *started* thinking and planning something a couple of months ago, but it fell by the wayside.

We really should do it somehow.

  8. Wow! You all've said it so well, and thanks and I love "meeting" you too!

Always hang onto what fits best is a lesson I've learned the hard way: by lettin' go of the right people in order to hang onto the "wrong" ones. I think I'm really learning it anyhow... lol!

    Blue Girl I would SO be up for that meeting. Folks are from all over the place, eh. Honestly though, since I'm solo once mo', I'd fly someplace, even Down Under, just to be able to hang with y'all. That's not a likely option; just sayin'... {-;

I actually remember you and AG and Res(?) talkin' 'bout this last fall, I think it was. That was when I first found the majority of your blogs. Tonya I've "known" For EVER it seems, and I can't relate in few words how many times I really needed a friendly voice and BOOM there you were Tonya, leavin' a comment or postin' a post that hit the spot.

I've gotta get back to work, but lemme know if anyone has any plans, or if you'd like me to come up with something. I'm pretty good with organizin' once I get a deadline.

    Lotsa Hearts!!!

  9. I assume you're referring to our blog, so thank you.

Actually, although I sometimes peruse the biggies (KOS, Atrios etc), I'm always much more impressed by the 'smaller' blogs. It's like good, indie films as opposed to blockbuster, big budget movies. I'll take John Sayles over most of the household name directors any day.

Keep up the good work. You're always an enjoyable and enlightening read.

  10. Damned glad to "meet" you! Blogging can be very therapeutic, lets you express yourself in front of the world, and get comfy doing it. It's about learning to share (not easy for an only child like moi).

I've learned that online friends are as real as any.

  11. You betchya Stockton! Steve mentioned blogs with intermittent posts and I immediately thought of how worth the wait yours always are. Tres cool! And thank ya kindly, sir.

Blueberry, the ones I've made certainly are as Good as the best of 'em too. Thanks alot.

I just got back from another pick-me-up. Marriage is def over, but that kiddo o' mine... I think I musta done ok as a step dad, cuz I still really feel the love when hangin' out and goofin' and helpin' her with PC stuff. Gotta remember that kind of stuff too, no matter how 'lone it can feel.

Alright. New digs a'comin' and in a town I already know and love. I think things are lookin' back up. L8 all!

  12. BG, let's just do it! I actually was going to wait to tell you this -- but I am planning a trip to Toledo in the near future. Perhaps a meet-up with you and Michael? How did you meet Lance and Tom?

  13. Toledo would be excellent! I haven't been there since I was a wee one, except to drive through.

I could really use a couple weeks' notice unless it's on a weekend, but would do without and deal with it if need be.

    Woo hoo!

  14. Well, I would fly in on a Sunday and drive to you -- these gas prices are too much for you to be coming to meet -- plus, restaurants in Clevland are better than ones in Toledo, I'm sure.

It probably won't be until late September. You will be the third to know after Sr. Mgmt and me.

  15. Well, I'm certainly glad I "met" you, Mr. Michael Bains, and I find it really cool to watch your blog, and others' as well, grow and develop and become richer and funnier over time. I learn so much from reading people's blogs. I may live a relatively isolated life, but that isolation is often wonderfully mitigated in part by some of the blog "linkages" (for lack of a better term) I have developed.

I agree with someone above who said something to the effect that it's in the smaller blogs that a certain 'community' atmosphere develops (or it may be that I imagined reading that and I'm too lazy to look back up and check which it is !!).

Anyway, my real question is: so wassup with your cult? Any progress?

  16. I always knew there were more people like me in the world. I've just had trouble finding them.

That is exactly how I felt when I started searching the web for other of like minds.

You have no idea how frustrating it can be livining in the heart of the 'Bible Belt'. My blog allows me to vent and stay sane surrounded by a poplulation of religionists.

I like the idea also of actually meeting other bloggers. Why not a regional or even world conference of atheists bloggers?

  17. No progress, Anita. I am just far too laissez fair for a cult leader, I guess.

You Alan, wazzup?! I do dig it, man. Cleveland's fairly cosmo, but it's still in Red Amur'ca. Hang in there Dude. Glad you do the blog down yonder. This stuff do be good for the sanity!
