Fwd: Rove Attacks Sherrod While DeWine Goes AWOL on Dubai Deal

I'll likely not comment on these much, and most of that would be concerning the hyperbole of presentation. I understand that they do it that way because they want to "stir up the masses", so to speak. I wouldn't be that great writing these things if that's what they find acceptable though.

Mostly though, I just want DeWine replaced, and any Ohio Voters reading this blog, and I, have a say in that. In that spirit (heheheh) I'm gonna post most, if not all, of the emails I get as a member of Brown's list.

Sherrod Brown
Dear Friend,

For the past two weeks, Sherrod has been working non-stop to halt the controversial UAE Port Deal and protect us from any future trade deals that compromise homeland security. Yesterday, Sherrod proposed tough new legislation requiring a rigorous national security review before any new trade agreement could begin.

Instead of joining Sherrod to defend America, Republicans in Washington have responded with a smear campaign to question Sherrod's credibility on national security.

I'm writing you today to ask for your help to stop these attacks against Sherrod and his work to protect Ohio families from Bush's dangerous trade policy: sherrodbrown.com/contribute

MIKE DEWINE AWOL ON PORT SECURITY

Meanwhile, our current senator, Republican Mike DeWine, has been virtually silent on this issue, which could put our safety in the hands of a Mideast nation with a troubling record on terrorism.

DeWine refused to comment for nearly a week to his hometown newspaper, until he finally came out with an underwhelming call for inaction: "We have to take a good look at this thing," DeWine told The Cincinnati Enquirer last Friday.

Asked why it took him so long to weigh in on this contentious issue, DeWine replied, "I don't see what difference it would make." He added, "I was out of town for a couple of days."

When the future of America's national security is at stake, a week can make a big difference. In a post-9/11 world, our leaders can't take their eyes off the ball. Sherrod Brown gets that. Mike DeWine obviously does not.

KARL ROVE DOES DEWINE'S DIRTY WORK

Mike DeWine might be staying silent, but Republicans in Washington led by Karl Rove are already blasting Sherrod, claiming that he faces a "serious credibility gap" on national security.

Hours after Sherrod released details on his new trade security bill, the Republican Senate Campaign Committee attacked Sherrod's record on national security in a letter widely distributed in Washington and Ohio.

STAND UP FOR SHERROD AGAINST ROVE'S ATTACKS

This charge is ludicrous coming from a party that still hasn't caught 9/11 mastermind Osama bin Laden. But thanks to the millions donated to Republicans by corporate lobbyists and outsourcing-obsessed CEOs, Republicans will have more than enough resources to distort Sherrod's record. The only thing standing in their way is you.

This behavior shows us what kind of campaign the Republicans are going to run in 2006. Every time Sherrod offers fresh ideas for our state, their response will be unfair attacks on his record. Help us build the resources we need tofight back and win this November:
