WASHINGTON -- The Pope's temporary lapse of infallibility was a theological cannon/canon shot heard around the world. From Turkey, where the ruling party likened the pontiff to Hitler and Mussolini, to Tunisia, where even moderates were in high dudgeon, and from the mosques of London to Lahore, imams were fanning global flames of angry resentment. Seven churches were sacked in the West Bank. Morocco and Iran recalled their ambassadors to the Vatican.

Not that any of these church sackers are prone to violence or anything like that. Not over an affront to their religion for goodness' sake.

Yah... So Daddy points out a predecessor's infallible opinion - rather non-committally at first, just an observation of what the dead king, err, pope said - and now he's gotta be officially human while he's still alive himself, and kinda, basically, in a sorta straight up way, apologize.

Change. One century at a time.

NEXT PLEASE . . .

  1. Oof! Are you a good witch or a bad witch?

  2. I agree. The pontiff has to apologise, really apologise and say he was wrong to have quoted that text. Unless he admits his wrongs, it won't do any good at all. So far, he is going the route of our politicians and saying, that's not what I meant to say. Won't do at all.

  3. Dude can't apologize straight up. He quoted because he's acknowledging that A LOT of people make the same correlation. He's sure sure stutterin' on whether or not he's on of those people.

Christianity gave it's propensity for violence to its Capitalist Manifesto. If it doesn't Earn Money, it's not moral. That's the most part of what Freedom means to them. Pat Robertson not-withstanding, most major christian leaders* exhort their folk to Peace over Violence almost everytime.

Most good for a lil' bitch...'n, 'Nilla. {-; 'Though I did "ordain" m'self a Neutral Witch wehn I was punk kid.

    * AND A LOT OF MUSLIMS TOO

  4. Should he apologize? After all, he was only quoting text, and it's true, isn't it?
I don't know. On one hand, I don't think that he should apologize. On the other, this is deepening the divide. The divide between groups that believe in mythology. But really, what would an apology do? It won't change the fact that they are on a mission to rid the world of infidels.

Unfortunately, I think that at some point all of this is going to reach a climax, and the world will pay for religion. It's so sad.

  5. Interesting how people fight about their gods while these all-powerful gods remain totally silent.

It's sort of pathetic the way moronic humans duke it out over whose god delusion is real, and how they are ready to kill and die for that delusion merely being "insulted" by simply quoting text from their sacred book or the drawing of a cartoon. It's a good thing xians don't do this over Frenetic Wanderings cartoons that portray gawd in sacreligious ways or a George Carlin stand-up comedy act which mocks gawd and religion.

It's kind of ludicrous actually..."I am sorry I insulted your imaginary friend by saying he is violent...please stop killing nuns and burning churches now." Will we all have to start having our speeches and other media proofread by muslims to make sure nothing is going to insult Allah?

  6. There's only so much irony one can take, ain't it Cassandra? And you're right of course. The World IS paying for religion with Global Warming cuz "Gawd" gived us the Dominion of the World.

    RA - freakin'- men. {sighhh}

    Well said, Stardust.

And that "proofreader" job sounds sweet! Can I do a Continuing Education Administrative Conversion to do that one, or would I need to do the Full Monty?
