Runaway Train

Runaway train
Never goin' back
Wrong way on a One Way track
Seems like
I should be gettin' somewhere
Right now I'm neither here nor there

by Soul Asylum
(early 1990s ?)

Heard this on the radio this morning while switchin' around.*

Just had to get it out of my head. Ya know...

Have a beauty day eh...

* btw, that coolish, silly, flamin' mouse story? (Trust me. The story is linked to in the post.) not bloody likely. {sigh}

  1. Can you help me remember how to smile?
Make it somehow all seem worthwhile
How on earth did I get so jaded?
    Life’s mystery seems so faded

I can go where no one else can go
I know what no one else knows
Here I am just a-drownin’ in the rain
With a ticket for a runaway train

Not a bad song to have stuck in your head...

Have much experience with mice, in and out of those glue traps (now proud owner of 2 house cats ;o)) - The flaming mouse story is quite possible - even though the exact details may never be known!

  2. I think I even recall something to the effect that, proceeds from this song went to supporting runaway kids in Seattle (or thereabouts.) And no, I don't mean as in the money went to their Tourism Department. Not really sure now...

Either way, the song's still been in there all morning long. Usually I clear one away with another.

And, yah, I think the mouse story could have happened. I just don't think it's very likely in this case because the old guy changed his mind on what happened a couple of times now.

    Thanks & L8

  3. Sometimes it doesn't matter if something happened or not. Sometimes it's enough that you are hearing about it and it makes you think.

For some time now I've been thinking that things coming up in our lives are just a series of road signs and if we learn to read the signs right for us we find our way to where it's real. I may be nutters too but somehow when I manage to think that way it always kind of falls into place for me. Not like there's a grand scheme but more like there are actual patterns meant for each of us and if we don't fight them but stay receptive and work with them things go smooth.

I am sorry if I am responsable for getting that song stuck in your head. At least we got the gears whirring though. Let me know if there's ever a new song in there so we can keep track of your progress, :)
