Human Rights Are Bigger Than States' Rights
Right now Ohio is in the center of a national right-wing attempt to challenge Roe v. Wade and ultimately criminalize abortion. Anti-choice politicians in the General Assembly are moving a bill that would outlaw ALL abortions in Ohio, even those necessary to save a woman's life!
We need your help to spread the word about this dangerous legislation. Please take a few moments to write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper about the dangers of this bill and urging others to join us in the fight against it. Click here for letter writing ideas and a list of local newspapers so you know where to send your letter.
You can also help by coming down to Columbus on Tuesday, June 13 for the first hearing on this bill. We need pro-choice people to pack that room so that we make sure that our legislators know that the pro-choice majority will not sit back while they put our lives and health in danger. The hearing will begin at 10:00 am (we recommend that people you there between 9:00 - 9:30 am to make sure you get a seat) and will probably last all day. The hearing will be in room 313 of the Ohio State House.
Can't come for the whole day, but want to stop by? We will have a protest outside of the Ohio State House in downtown Columbus from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm, making sure our community knows that we oppose this legislation. Damn, I wish I could make it to the protest... It's quite a dangerous place for 2 little boys though. LOL! Ugh, and I was just about to say that I may drive by to check it out and take some pictures, but I forgot that my camera is in the shop. Oh well. Maybe I'll drive by and honk. :-)
