Through the Sky Above Me

If your secret is how you want to live, I dig it.

Sometimes I wish the whole world were like a 12-step group. Only with controls that made sense to someone who's not interested in making much money or any converts off the outcome.

That's all I really miss about doin' meetings for 3 or 4 years. Eye to eye and not job related experiences of People.

a hand to hold that fits mine...
I got suckered in by that line once. I won't do it again, but I'll always like it.

  1. I'm not familiar with what the 12 step thing is...but I'll take your word for it.

  2. I couldn't survive in a world that made sense.

  3. Meetings are great when they're all you have. They buoy ya up 'til you figure out what you need. They can get pretty addictive though.

No worries, Frederick. We'll never get to live in one anyhow.

That's beautiful and when you find that hand, you never want to let go.

  5. I don't know what 12-step meetings are like but the two AA meetings I went to with friends were awesome. I love the Jerry Springer feeling it has.

Don't hate me for saying that. I hate to admit that other's woes made me feel better for my friends.

  6. Nope. I sure didn't, POP...

"the Jerry Springer feeling" is right, AG! lol There was plenty of that at times, though the ACoA variety of meetings lacked the challenging crazies. Those are family members who were mostly under discussion but not invited.

And it helps to see folk in worser places than one's self. Just ain't the greatest idea to buddy up with 'em to close ..

Oh Lord you can say THAT again!

There was a book out a few years back that coined the term "emotional vampires". This is why meeting like this scare the bejeezus out of me. Thus, I blog.

  8. Yeppers. Folks who wear their hearts on their sleeves should wear more than garlic around Emotional Vampires.

MM! Have you heard Elana James? She's a fiddler (w/ a cellist's education)and used to in Hot Club of Cowtown. It's some wild mix of jazz and traditional music, even with some hints of ragtime.

Wish I had a link to the first song. A guy at work just saw her at the Beachland and she signed his copy of her latest Cd. Good driving music. :)))

  9. Emotional Vampires - I like that phrase.
I always seem to attract them, and haven't yet found the way to not get myself too involved.
Going to get some extra-strong garlic...
