I'm a firm believer in evolution, but ID theory doesn't seem to get me all worked up. My attitude is, "Bring it on, let the best theory or wanna-be theory win!"
In other words, millions of people believe in creationism/ID. If people want to talk about ID theory, then set up a special class where the differences between science and religion are learned and explored, and show, with all due respect, why ID is not a scientific theory. It's not that hard, after all.

Although our president has put much thought, I'm sure, in putting "intelligent design" on an equal footing with evolution as a scientific theory - he's just that kind of a guy - "ontogeny recapitulates philogeny," if I even spelled anything there right, is an example of how, as I understand it, multiple lines of evidence support the theory of evolution. (As opposed to, say, a line in the Bible and a bunch of tendentious reasoning on the part of right-minded scientists.)
ReplyDeleteThe idea is just that, when you observe the stages of human life in the womb, they correlate with other evidence for evolution: at one point we have gills, etc., I couldn't give you the details, being no scientist...
