Which religion is the right one for you?

Quiz Farm is sehr koolish mang!

I found this quiz (goto end of my take...) while perusing LiveJournal entries (I'd leave the specific link but lost it!!!) Gotta post this to the Atheist Groups on Yahoo as well. The only thing that bothered me about it is that I seem to have scored quite high as a Satanist as well! Oh well. I guess propaganda is a subconscious tool afterall...

Enjoy!

You scored as atheism. You are... an atheist, though you probably already knew this. Also, you probably have several people praying daily for your soul.

Instead of simply being "nonreligious," atheists strongly believe in the lack of existence of a higher being, or God.

  1. Hi Michael -

Thanks for your forthright response to my recent post on raving atheist. (I was trying to focus on what I called the "serious" side of religion and spirituality.)

Your reply basically alluded to emotional struggles that we go through as we try to become better persons.

I'd just want to add that it seems to me that these emotional struggles overlay a "depth dimension" - the language is always tough here - that I think we share as human beings.

Meditation is one relatively direct way of approaching that, but the kind of struggle you point to can also move us in that direction. So can spontaneous and unexpected "depth experiences," like the one I mentioned having at age 23.

  2. I love it T!

No wonder you like my style! ;} Merci beau coup!

I've been through all those "religions" btw (including a year of Wiccan training.) I still dwell on the 8 Fold Path of Buddhism when I'm lackin' direction for my ideas about my current life. Of course, the other extreme for me is that I subscribe to the Ayn Rand Institute. I think "her" philosophy of Objectivism, while harsh in its extreme implementation, is the most honest guide post I can use in determining my own values.

I love both hard and soft as well. Just ask my wife & s-daughter! LOL!

  3. ... although I'm not aware of an illustrated edition of Ayn Rand's Greatest Hits.

LMAO!!! I'm sure his momma, er, wife would have read it to him at bed-time.

Yep. It do have "warts" though. So does life and that's why I'm not a fundamentalist Objectivist. Humans have the ability to put aside our own immediate self-interest in order to ensure our longer term goals of a Happy Life. We aren't just focused on a full tank so to speak. And those that are don't really attract me anyhow.

I hear ya G-Fish. I think I've got an Ayn Rand Institute slam coming up sometime soon. I'm quite Libertarian as well. That doesn't mean I can't see the ridiculous ineptitude of pure laissez faire capitalism in keeping the wheels of commerce rollin' along smoothly.

  5. Thanks for the Good Ol' Days of blogging!

Just commented on T's blog to the same effect. Nov 05 was brutal save for blogging SH. Meeting thoughts online that were so much like mine. :) Just need to continue practicing humility again without having to think about it. FB is always friendly where you expect it. And there's places that just expect cheerfully brutal nature of Life and make you feel at home there. ;)

Good to read you sometimes, Mr Prime Minister. Health! Prost! Nzdrowje!
