But I'm just as sure that the learning curve for using it is lower than anything yet introduced.

Unequivocally including the MAC. I've used both and still prefer PCs, even though they are buggier software-wise than Apple's slightly more elegant machine.

I hear ya, Steve. lol! I wish more of my Co's users felt the same way.

Honestly, I don't mind if the user doesn't ANYTHING they want with a Co laptop. I just HATE IT when they let their kids use them to play on the internet.

Still, companies that don't let their laptop users have administrative (install software) rights on their PCs are cowards and foolish, IMO. You either Trust your employees or you hire new ones. Anything else is paternalistic stupidity and - more than money, greed or ignorance - truly the root of all social ills.

Trust them or Help them be trustworthy. If neither of those work then kindly fire them. If a Manager can't do that then they should get out of the business.

Period.

:)Michael Bainshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13734972725056899460noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10526479.post-31528294593498067842007-06-09T06:51:00.000-04:002007-06-09T06:51:00.000-04:00We need another computer, but have other things we...We need another computer, but have other things we have to get right now. ugh....I like my laptop from work, but cant use it for too much personal stuff. Really, I am so ambivalent 'bout MS cuz it HAS done so very much good for our species by making computing available AND popular. Its negs include being one of the most heinous Corporate Sharks to devour BETTER competitors for the Profit Motive we've ever seen.

MS is basically the highest profile example of both the Best and Worst elements of Capitalism at work.

And the stupid-arsed Politicians who've attempted to "regulate" their business practices have - as usual - done so more for appearances' sake than with an eye towards actually improving the business environment for new and better ideas.

That makes the continuation of Microsoft's worst excesses the fault of the electorate and their ignorance, apathy and greed.

Blech!

(But the Tech Is still So Cool!!!)Michael Bainshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13734972725056899460noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10526479.post-42712639340167117052007-06-08T07:31:00.000-04:002007-06-08T07:31:00.000-04:00I loooove that interface!! ditto raffi, it reminds...I loooove that interface!! ditto raffi, it reminds me of the Minority Report. Processing power today is capable of doing all kinds of non-essential functions; mostly to do with Graphic displays.
