  1. He did much with his time, and we can be thankful for that.

  2. Nice to see a few people mentioning him and his work!

  3. Yeah, he was a great influence when I was a small nina. Mi abuelo used to read his books to me by the fire.

  4. There's a Lesson there, eh Larry? One I'd really like to learn 'bout managing the time I've always got on my hands.

Thanks again for your post this morning, Sumo. For some reason, learning it there made it more poignant or at least less shocking. You did a nice tribute.

    Dig it Coffee.

And Maria, that's so cool for you that he was into Vonnegut! I'm pretty sure my parents thought he was, umm, nice, but satanic or something like that. It's hard to say where I got that impression but think it was in HS, when I mentioned reading S5 for class.

Strange days and always, or so it seems.

  5. I really loved Kurt Vonnegut in my early adult lava stage. He had a great mind.

  6. Appropriately titled indeed, and what a perfect image to go with the news. Here's hoping we all have enough time to figure out and actualize the contribution we each have waiting within us.

  7. Hey MB,

You were one of the first people I thought of when I heard the news this morning.

We are what we only intend to be. So we must be careful what we pretend to be.

He was such a gift to the world.

  8. Well, look at that. I screwed up the Vonnegut quote! I think he'd probably laugh at that.

Are we what we intend to be? Or pretend to be?

I wish I could have that discussion with him. Darnit. As weird as it sounds, that's what's got me down. That I won't ever meet him. How weird is that? I just always had this feeling I would.

Hey, you never know! Maybe one day! In another dimension.

  9. I couldn't agree more, Eddie.

Thx MandoM. Ditto hoping for time for all of us. It sure is taking me longer than I thought when I was younger. Sometimes I think patience is the scariest thing in the world to embrace. But just sometimes, eh.

    :)

BG! That's alright! I didn't even notice your misquote was mis! lol!

Probably cuz I do so wish to be what I intend to be!

Ya know, I always had the same feeling 'bout Carl Sagan. I just imagined that I'd one day get to talk with him personally. {sigh} If Imagination counts as a Dimension, then I guess pretending may even count and we can both say we met them already.

    At least in some way.

  10. I think I may be the only person on earth who is not familiar with his work. That will change now that I am reading what he was all about.

  11. I agree with Blue Girl. And I don't think it's bad or selfish to think, gee I never met him, or damn, I'll never hear him speak somewhere. It's a loss, pure and simple.

As long as we all due our duty by (re)reading his books and pressing them into the hands of others, not as bad a loss as it might be.

  12. Kurt Vonnegut and my cat Duncan. Same day. major bummer.

  13. Sorry about Duncan, blueberry.
